ABSTRACT: This thesis describes the design of system for building and
solving mathematical models. Beyond describing the work in its current
state, we also try to communicate an understanding of the design
process itself. Incorporated into the body of the thesis are
descriptions not only of the system as it exists, but also the
decisions that brought it here. In addition, there are "Thoughts"
sections included throughout the text. These bring out future design
issues, or issues that have been resolved with a trade-off that we
feel should be made explicit.
